I fished the sixmilewater for the first time on Tuesday night and just thought I would post and let you know how much I enjoyed visiting the river. I was shown the river by one of the auld hands in the club and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I am not sure of the name of the stretch we fished, but some of you may recognise the water. The quality of the trout fishing was first class, every cast resulted in a pluck or a fish and I got a handful of nice brownies to 8 inches before trying for a Dolly ( a fish I have yet to catch) for an hour after dark. Managed to catch 3, a sycamore, and oak and an ash in the dark! It's a whole new skill, I thought I was a competent caster until fishing the sixmile it in the pitch black. The work undertaken by the club was evident every where I looked, suitable stiles, river enhancement work, and clean banks. It was a pleasure to fish. Thanks, Andy

Cheers for that Andy she's a little gem ain't she. I'm sure you'll get a dollie at some point if you put the time in.

A good guide starting off is very important, I got lumbered with Davy Telford at the start so I know how you feel All joking aside I only started myself at the back end of last season and I remember hitting almost every tree down the first stretch Davy put me on lol. By seasons end I ended up with a few Dollies and a wee salmon, mainly due to the advice I recieved from Davy and Stevie Munn, you cant beat experience. Keep at it mate, its a buzz when you get one.
