every year sixmile water has a fish kill, this happens on the first off september. you may not think of it as a fish kill, but from that day all you will see is small fish floating down passed you. less and less dead fish are seen each day as the season goes on because our young fish stocks are wiped out. hows this happening, some anglers don`t know how to fish with worms.

What size would you say would be needed as a No.2 hook is pretty big in my book and that hasn't made any difference

there is difference size of size 2 per hook maker

to be fair whatever size of hook you use youre still going to catch trout and a size 2 of any brand is quite fine for normal use. i dont think there is any need for change there.

Make it fly only all year as we don't have this problem untill the 1st of September

I couldn't agree more Davy. At the very least fly only above the m2 road bridge. Am I right in saying that the ballynure club is fly only? It's too small a river up there for spinning and worming. It makes perfect sense in this climate of dwindling fish stocks and major talk about conservation.

Nighthunter, i dont keep very many myself but if people are paying to be in the club each year or buying day tickets they have every right to keep the odd fish. Also Keeping a few over a season will have a minimal effect on how many there will be for the future in my opinion.
